...the first step -- having a solid idea and commitment to begin with.

I associate the word "music" with art, business and politics: "any business, like starting a business, traveling, etc." Replace [Brian] if we approach them as described by Eno [a few decades ago]. The fruits will be sweeter ".

Musician: What is the step in the music creation process that risks destroying the musician?
ENO: This is an interesting question. I would say that the first step is to have a strong idea and a commitment. Most of the music I listen to has all the right ingredients, but nothing of the soul. A strong idea, a house, is a kind of spirit. We believe that working in this environment will benefit you spiritually and free a closed part of your soul because you cannot find a suitable place to escape from the ordinary and everyday world.
I think that's what people call faith. If you have it, you can work with any combination of ingredients, even if it goes to waste. I've been listening to a lot of gospel music lately and some of the recordings I've made are disgusting. The acoustics are awful, the printing presses are dirty, everything is wrong. They usually don't have ingredients that would be considered part of a successful recipe, but they have so many more that you won't notice that other things aren't available. I have heard of many new British synthesizer bands [80s], they are components of the originality of modern pop music. You can check: the "creative" use of the studio, the electronics, the modern rhythms, the clean productions, the meaningless words, the right hairstyle, the right ideological configuration: a lot of bananas. They have all of these things, but they miss them because they don't feel that music is really important in their lives.
